For one of our clients in Capelle aan den IJssel, we’re looking for a Vessel Operator. The Vessel Operator (VO) prepares and executes all operational voyage activities for vessels assigned to the VO. By investigating, facilitating, and informing all stakeholders, the VO ensures that all operational voyage activities are being conducted in a safe and, in all aspects, efficient way.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on operational queries, feasibility checks and PDA requests from other departments.
• Validity checks of voyage costs and budgets in liaison with the Commercial Department.
• Review of Charter Parties to determine demarcation of scope, liabilities, responsibilities, and liaise same with other internal departments and stakeholders.
• Appoint local port agents, reviewing, negotiating and approval of disbursement accounts.
• Prepare and send voyage instructions to the captains.
• Planning, purchasing, and coordination of bunkers, bunker calls, and associated activities.
• Supervision of the day-to-day vessel operations.
• Follow up on freight, demurrage, and bunker escalation invoices and on other reimbursables.
• Responsible for accurate project control and financial voyage administration.
• Perform post voyage evaluation and inform management about lessons learned.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned by manager or supervisor.

Who are you?

• You have an Intermediate or Higher Vocational Education (Maritime transport) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position in the shipping or marine industry.
• Meet all requirements as stated in the company competence and training matrix.
